The level Waalwege in the low mountain range of Scena run through the beautiful landscape, past grapevines, chestnut groves and apple orchards. The family-friendly hikes along the historic irrigation channels offer excellent experiences for young and old. You can start right from the Winzerhöhe: the Waalweg from Scena runs past us.
Sporty mountain enthusiasts will find a variety of well-marked hiking trails in the higher altitudes. These lead from mountain pasture to mountain pasture, up to the mountain peaks of the Hirzer massif. The panorama is overwhelming! As a reward, you should most definitely stop in one of the alpine huts. The typical South Tyrolean dishes taste twice as good in the mountain air after a triumphant summit victory.
First, you have to go to the parking lot of Avelengo village. You can reach it in half an hour by taking the Bürgeleweg at the junction of Avelengo. Once at the parking lot, you can cross the street and choose path no. 16, which leads you to the Leadner Alm at 1,514m. The forest path no. 11 continues to the Vöraner Alm. The way back is via path no. 2 to the Wurzer Alm (1707 m) and back to Avelengo village. The hike mainly consists of forest trails. The three alpine pastures offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain landscape, from the Texel Group to the Dolomites.
This leisurely hike to the hut leads to the most beautiful viewing platforms. It offers several dining spots with sun terraces. The Merano 2000 mountain station is the starting point. From the Zuegg hut on path no. 3 past the Waidmannalm and on track no. 18A to the Kirchsteiger Alm and Meraner hut. From there, path no. 4 leads up to Kreuzjöchl, turn right here on path no. 15 and on to the Maiser Alm and Moschwaldalm. Turn right after the huts and descend over a steeper section for approximately 15 minutes. After crossing the river Sinichbach, you reach the starting point in Falzeben and from there back to the hotel.
