The mythical “Stoanerne Mandln” mysteriously stretch up into the sky above Meltina. A Celtic cultural site with hundreds of stone figures. Magical, legendary, and impressive. The natural monument is one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Sarntal Alps: the view extends to the Dolomites and the Ortler. The "Stoanerne Mandln" can be reached via several hiking trails, including from Avelengo.
The Dolomites, the peaks of the Sarntal and Ötztal Alps, the Adige Valley. You can sit comfortably in the “Knottnkino” in the cinema chairs of the South Tyrolean artist Franz Messner and admire this view. The best nature film takes place here, under the open sky. The hill itself is already an experience: the porphyry red Rotsteinkogel Mountain, on which the open-air cinema sits, was formed millions of years ago. The Knottnkino is between Verano and Avelengo and can be reached via easy hiking trails.
From the rice field to the South Tyrolean vine. The botanical gardens of Trauttmannsdorff Castle near Merano form over 80 garden landscapes with plants from all over the world. See, smell, marvel: a holistic sensory experience. Adventure stations, artist pavilions, a tropical greenhouse, the water lily pond: the gardens are among the most beautiful in Europe. The interactive tourism museum in the entrance area conveys 200 years of tourism history in Tyrol and Merano creatively.
In the 13th century, the farmers around Merano and in Val Venosta created water channels, the Waale. To maintain the Waal, they built narrow paths. These almost flat and idyllic Waalwege lead through forests and meadows, continuously beside the water channel. The Scena Waalweg begins in the spectacular Masul gorge, near the Winzerhöhe. It leads through spruce forests and apple trees into the Naif valley, with a beautiful view of the valley basin. And it is only one of nine Waalwege around Scena and Merano.
